Assurity was engaged by Department of Internal Affairs to modernise and optimise services for New Zealanders. Our Agile coaching and DevOps expertise were sought for this large-scale program, which involved six Scrum teams and a complex end-to-end test and quality assurance solution.

Solution

To tackle the challenges of rolling out SAFe to a multi-vendor team, Assurity’s coaches observed programme delivery teams and developed a clear plan to upskill and coach them. This included CI/CD pipeline guidance, DevOps leadership, targeted training, infrastructure-as-code coaching, test strategy guidance, test automation, continuous security compliance and monitoring, and integrating continuous delivery with ITSM. The approach proved successful, leading to a culture of sharing and cross-skilling across the organization.

Results

Assurity helped the programme adopt DevOps patterns around Dynamics 365, K2, Azure, OpenShift, MuleSoft and Azure DevOps. Their guidance led to building a robust quality assurance group, adopting security and compliance monitoring, encouraging continuous delivery with ITSM, and measuring and improving releases. The Department of Internal Affairs was able to release software in a highly-automated, rapid fashion, improving their release time from 8+ hours to less than an hour.
