Oracle Cloud ERP
Inland Revenue (IR) chose Oracle Cloud Applications for their Enterprise Support Services (ESS) transformation, aiming to create a standardised and reusable template for other government agencies. The extensive integration with internal and external applications posed a significant testing challenge. Assurity was brought in to create a set of use cases, test scripts, and other testing tools to ensure the system was up and running. The testing must span integrations and applications, considering IR’s commitment to providing employees with ‘work anywhere’ functionality. IR hopes to make their applications intuitive, and investing in testing is a big part of that.
Assurity provided Business Analysis, Managed Testing, and Automated Testing Services to ensure the successful delivery of Inland Revenue’s (IR) Oracle applications. The team automated testing wherever possible and created 750 standard tests to improve the quality assurance of the process. Assurity tested the integrations of legacy systems to Oracle and made enhancements for greater automation, reducing manual intervention and potential errors. The testing also built enduring assets to support automated regression testing for quarterly Oracle Cloud upgrades. According to Inland Revenue CFO Lara Ariell, without Assurity’s support, managing these updates would not be feasible.

Assurity provided Business Analysis, Managed Testing, and Automated Testing Services for IR’s Oracle applications, including 750 standard tests and 26 integrations with other systems. The automated testing framework streamlines testing for quarterly patches, reducing maintenance costs and accelerating time to market.
Regression tests now take just 6 hours; an equivalent manual test would take 15 person-days.
By taking a holistic approach to testing the entire customer/data ecosystem, Assurity’s work has guided the Oracle system configuration vendor and extended the coverage and quality of systems-wide testing. Automated testing and reusable test assets are transferable to support other government initiatives, accelerating migration to modernized applications and processes across the wider public service.
